Records, the majority of which relate to the effect of World War II on the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, include a manual for the retraining of returned veterans, 1945; narrative descriptions of Metropolitan Life during World War II; scrapbooks of clippings about Metropolitan Life during World War II; a report on progress made in securing the company's buildings against attack, 1940s; letters to Leroy A. Lincoln, the company's president, and others in the company from Metropolitan Life employees in the armed forces during World War II; an album of photographs showing Metropolitan Life World War II veterans at a dinner in their honor, 1946; an album of photographs showing nurses, stretcher bearers, wardens, roof watchers, blood donors, members of the safety committee, fire squads, and other Metropolitan Life Home Office employees demonstrating their preparedness for an attack, World War II; and scrapbooks containing attachments to insurance policies stating "war risk provisions," memos, correspondence, instructions to sales agents, clippings, reports, forms, and other documents reflecting changes made in the selling of insurance and in the operation of the company to meet the requirements of the war.
